Traditional WRB providers struggle to balance moisture management. They typically sandwich a film layer between non-woven fiber layers, forcing a compromise between breathability and protection:

  • Films with no pores act as a meaningful water barrier but offer little to no vapor transmission, trapping damaging moisture inside the walls.
  • Films with many large pores improve moisture vapor transfer rates, but allow liquid bulk water to leak through the film, compromising the structure.
  • Manufacturers are forced to rely on non-wovens to make up for film deficiencies, sacrificing moisture management performance in the process.
